Hawzah News Agency - (Burton - UK) - A Burton mosque will be electing an entirely new committee to run the venue and is urging all members to turn out and vote for their candidates.
The Central Jamia Mosque Rizvia, on Uxbridge Street will be hosting its annual general meeting on Sunday, July 12, at the Pakistan Community Centre, in Uxbridge Street at 2pm and all members are urged to attend.
This will be the final meeting with the current six committee members, as on Saturday August 2, there will be an election to choose a new committee, as the mosque moves towards a new direction with new members at the helm, said a spokesman for the venue.
Tariq Hussain, spokesperson for the mosque, said of the annual meeting: "We would like to invite all our Masjid paying members to our meeting.
"We have had a relatively busy last 12 months so it's important for all the members to attend and get an update, strict rules on social distancing will be in place and adhered to.
"We advise all attendees to bring face masks and maintain a suitable distance between one another and to continue to follow the government guidelines.
"Members are encouraged to do their best to attend and ask any questions they wish at the relevant agenda item.
"Due to the current pandemic we have had to delay the election process as late as we could, strict social distancing rules will be in place.
"There are six posts available including chairman, vice-chairman, general secretary, joint secretary, treasurer and joint treasurer.
